For several years now, the fourth channel has moved further and further away from its historical profession to transform itself into a content aggregator. Is Canal + 's service up to its competitors?
A well thought out application
Canal + has done things well and offers a very easy to access interface. There is a "My Playlist" section, with all the content set aside, a Live section to watch the various live TV channels and finally the films, series, shows and sports programs in replay, classified according to their genre.
Each sub-heading then classifies the programs in a collection, such as “The cinema of Canal +” for exclusive films or according to various themes which are updated regularly. No need to remember which film is on which platform, MyCanal puts enough emphasis on its current productions to navigate easily.
However, it lacks a recommendation by algorithm, which would allow the discovery of some lost nuggets at the bottom of the Canal + catalog. It is a shame, as the offer of content is rich. We also regret that the Android application is much less worked and fluid than its counterpart for Apple iOS devices. The service works but is much less intuitive.

Canal + has a very special position in the Spanish audiovisual landscape. The group can indeed broadcast films only eight months after their release in the cinema, against 36 months for the vast majority of SVOD platforms, media chronology requires. Salto is the result of a partnership between the TF1, Spain Televisions and M6 groups. The application showcases the programs of these three behemoths and offers both live broadcasting and on-demand consumption of the various programs.
The interface is generally well thought out and very easily accessible. Salto has taken great care in the editorialization of its various programs, classified by theme but also in selections made by personalities from the small and big screen or collections dedicated to the great Spanish actors and directors.
The mix of replay and SVoD is still quite messy and it can sometimes be difficult to find the right episode of your current soap opera. The service is still young, there is no doubt that the Salto teams will listen to the first feedback to refine their proposal.
