We updated this article on 22/12 when Canal+ has just offered a limited offer for its Cine Series pack. More details below.
Canal+ has just launched a limited offer on this pack for Christmas parties 2021. It thus passes to 25,99 € / month for one year (then €35,99) for a commitment of 24 months, instead of €34,99/month for one year (then €40,99/month, 2-year commitment). This offer is valid until January 26, 2022.

Summary
- The strengths of the Cine Series pack
- The weak points of the Cine Series pack
Canal+ intends to make a name for itself in the very competitive streaming market and does not hide its ambitions. The Ciné Séries pack is the very embodiment of this. To curb the loss of subscribers to its classic packages, the group led by Maxime Saada is banking on SVoD and multiplying partnerships to aggregate the maximum number of services (Netflix, OCS, Disney+, etc.).
- Canal+ subscriptions: Offers, prices, advantages, disadvantages... all the formulas under the magnifying glass
Besides, if you want to know all useful information on this subject, you can read the file that we have devoted to it or that dedicated to all the subscription formulas available at Canal+.
Unsurprisingly, this pack often does not lack assets, even if it also obviously has some "flats". But for 40.99 euros per month (€34.99 for twelve months with a 2-year commitment), is it really a good deal?
The strengths of the Cine Series pack
The right price, really?
Let's say it straight away, the prices are, it must be admitted, rather attractive. It is difficult to estimate the exact cost of all the services and channels if one decided to subscribe to them separately, but it would undoubtedly be much higher.
On their own, Netflix, OCS and Disney+ and Canal+ combined would already cost almost 56 euros per month (13.49€ + 11.99 + 9.99 + 20.99). And that's a low estimate. Since the Canal+ Series platform (6.99€ per month), or even the bouquet of cinema channels are also integrated into the subscription formula.
From a mathematical point of view, the Canal+ Ciné Séries pack is a very good deal. Finally, if you are a compulsive serial eater who needs to be subscribed to almost all platforms.

To afford the Ciné Séries pack, you have to pay 40.99€ per month (34.99€ pendant 1 an with a 24 month contract).
- If you are under 26
If this is your case, you are entitled to an additional discount: the pack is 20.49 euros per month.
In short, apart from these purely factual considerations, what to think of these prices? It ultimately seems quite inexpensive paid for the number of services included in the pack.
Today, Canal is the only market player capable of offering such an offer to its subscribers, and that does not seem to be changing. The company is in the process of conquering this area, hence these advantageous prices. When it has a solid footing in the streaming business, it's also likely that prices will rise accordingly.
On the catalog side, is the size that counts?
In this formula specially designed for the most ardent fans of series and films, we therefore find:
- Canal +, its bouquet of thematic channels (Canal + Cinema, Canal + Séries, Ciné + Premier, Ciné + Frisson, Ciné + Émotion, Ciné + Famiz, Ciné + Classic, Ciné + Club, etc.)
- Traditional channels and TNT (even on myCanal)
- myCanal and the SVoD Canal + Séries platform
- Netflix "Standard" (two simultaneous screens up to Full HD)
- starplay
- The OCS bouquet
- Disney Cinema and especially Disney Plus
- Reference American channels: Sundance TV, Fox, TCM Cinema, Warner Bros TV, Paramount Channel and Adult Swim (Rick & Morty)
A dense proposition, to say the least. Today, it is quite simply the offer that brings together the most different services and content, all for a fairly contained price (we will come back to this).
One thing is certain: for large consumers of video streaming, those who like to collect platforms, have the choice and be able to watch ALL new releases (or almost) will find what they are looking for. For the others, it is already more debatable.
The 100% digital non-binding offer (myCanal)
The non-binding offer at the same price as that which binds you to Canal+ for two years? It's a good plan, unless you're particularly attached to the Canal decoder (or your TV box) and the traditional way of watching encrypted antenna content. The offer corresponds in any case to the expectations and uses of the new generations.
To unsubscribe, the procedure is very simple: go to the "subscription" section of your Canal account, then click on "cancel my subscription", and your subscription will be canceled at the end of the current month. In addition, despite some occasional technical problems to which we will return, the myCanal portal has made good progress in recent years.
The platform is digestible, ergonomic and functional, even if subscribers are therefore not always spared by bugs. Finally, the possibilities of watching the channels and services of your bouquet on your TV are not lacking, and in 4K too please.
Apple TV 4K is one solution (it even has its dedicated myCanal application), but not the only one. Owners of an Orange and Bouygues 4K decoder will also be able to take advantage of UHD, like those who have an Android smart TV.
The weaknesses of the Ciné Series pack
Too much choice kills choice?
If you are not a very big consumer of films and series, the interest of affording the Cine Series pack is obviously already more questionable. This is all the more the case if you first choose this pack for Netflix, OCS and Disney+, before the Canal channels.
Certainly, you will have the choice and will never be short of content to watch in the varied catalogs of the different SVoD platforms. However, 36.90 euros monthly is a budget. And if yours is not unlimited, know that there are other satisfactory alternatives.
Individually subscribing to Netflix, OCS or Disney might just be enough for the majority. The respective catalogs are sufficiently rich and varied to keep you busy for a very long time, even if you will no longer have the satisfaction of "owning everything".
On the other hand, for "collectors" who would have subscribed to all the streaming services individually anyway, remember that the Cine Series pack remains a very good deal.
myCanal, a small downside?
Canal subscribers are not yet rave about the platform and just go to the Canal support site to realize it. On computer, television or smartphone, the service is not yet spared by some occasional or more recurring technical glitches. Offline downloading, for example, is not always optimal. There are a few bugs to report.
Otherwise, the main complaints concern playback problems, "crashes", and other image "freezes". It is still necessary to remain nuanced: the members of the editorial staff who use the application had little concern. In addition, Canal advisors are reactive and attentive to correct the various problems that subscribers may encounter.
To say today that myCanal is a valid reason not to subscribe to the Ciné Séries pack would therefore be an exaggeration. Like other supports, it sometimes suffers from a few bugs and is not the most fluid interface on the market, but nothing unacceptable.
