The Apple TV app is now available on Samsung TVs. It provides access to the entire iTunes catalog. TVs also become AirPlay 2 compatible.
Apple is taking advantage of the update of its various operating systems (iOS 12.3 for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, tvOS 12.3 for the Apple TV and macOS Mojave 10.14.5) to unveil a new version of the Apple application TV present on the Apple TV box. The biggest novelty is not the application itself, already present on Apple TV, but its arrival on Samsung televisions. Remember that Samsung televisions use the Tizen operating system developed by Samsung and that it is therefore an Apple TV application developed especially for this system.

Whether on Apple TV or on Samsung televisions, the Apple TV application introduces a new interface with a top banner that allows quick access to important categories (movies, TV series, children, library) as well as to the research. The "watch" tab groups together suggestions for content that may interest you as well as the resumption of episodes or films. According to Apple, the Apple TV app aggregates content from more than 150 third-party apps and streaming services, and it wants to establish itself as a gateway to all other streaming services, except that Netflix refuses to do so. see integrate its contents. The Apple TV application on Samsung televisions: access to the iTunes catalog
The Apple TV app on the Samsung TV looks the same, but doesn't offer the full range of features, at least not yet.
The Apple TV app is also available on Samsung TVs. Just go to the app store and download it. The interface is the same as the Apple Box app, but the functionality is not entirely the same. It obviously gives access to the entire iTunes catalog, whether it is films for rent or purchase in Ultra HD HDR, or even TV series, but the aggregation of content is less extensive. MyCanal content does not appear in the application, and the application generally does not manage to draw content from other streaming services as is the case with the Apple box. Compatible Samsung TVs also gain AirPlay 2 compatibility which allows content (photos, video, mirror) to be displayed from iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac to the TV wirelessly. AirPlay can be activated in the settings after the Apple TV app is installed. If it is connected via Ethernet, AirPlay does not work. This new Apple TV application is therefore available on Apple TV and Samsung televisions, as well as on the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and it will arrive on Mac this fall. Apple intends to offer this application on all devices, whether it is televisions from other brands (Sony and LG will also welcome the application in the coming months), boxes, multimedia boxes (Xiaomi Box 4K) or still the "streaming sticks" like the Amazon Fire TV Stick.
