The latest version of Parallels Desktop software allows MacBook and MacMini M1 users to launch Windows 10 Arm applications. A functional solution but far from perfect for the moment.

On its new Mac M1, Apple decided to no longer support Boot Camp and it has been impossible to install Windows 10 on Mac since. But who needs to install Windows on Mac you will say? This can be useful when using certain software specific to Microsoft's operating system. For example, we used Boot Camp to carry out our MacBook tests in order to be able to compare them to their PC counterparts, but for a few months this has no longer been possible ... We are also thinking of SMEs / VSEs which use proprietary or dated applications which are not supported by macOS.
Parallels Desktop offers an alternative thanks to its latest update which now allows Windows 10 to be launched in its Arm version in parallel with iOS. Thus, Windows x86 applications can be emulated and are functional, but this requires downloading a preview version of Windows 10 Arm from the Microsoft site, the final version being offered only to laptop manufacturers.
The MacBook Air M1.
A limited solution
This solution is unfortunately not perfect. Firstly, the Arm version of Windows is still in the development stage and not everything works smoothly (unlike the emulation of Mac applications via Rosetta, which is much more efficient at the moment). Second, Parallels Desktop does not natively launch Windows as it could with Boot Camp, and this further reduces performance and smoothness.
It will therefore be necessary to wait for a refined version of Windows 10 Arm to improve everything, although a native solution on the Mac would be much more convenient.
Parallels Desktop
Parallels Desktop is operating system virtualization software that allows you to have a macOS system and a Windows system (including Windows 11) in parallel.
